MORRIS PLAINS, N.J., Apr. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — Global Wireless Technologies (GWT)A leading provider of broadband wireless access equipment and solutions, today announced MBP, its new Mobile Broadband Platform for First Responders. MBP, which is based upon GWT’s existing commercial mobile broadband solution, is a hardened mobile access point system, and offers first responders purpose-built broadband access equipment designed for robust and reliable performance. With a wide range of output power available, it ensures excellent coverage across the challenging and diverse environments that public safety responders must operate in.

The platform is a ruggedized system that allows a customer to create a local broadband network anywhere where there is an accessible cellular signal and provide multiple users access to a broadband connection. With redundancy and flexibility in mind, the MBP 23 supports AT&T, VZW and FirstNET licensed spectrum for maximum coverage and redundant operation in case of network outage. MBP includes a commercial grade grouter with a full suite of policy controls and encryption. The MBP 23 XR model offers users a high-powered transmitter for longer range, extending the total network coverage area into challenging indoor environments.

GWT believes that most trials will require exactly the type of flexibility and configurability offered by MBP. Each controlling authority will need to provision multiple access and service levels and that is a key element of the features and functions that have been designed into the platform.

David Gross, GWT’s Director of Product Marketing, commented that “GWT is committed to providing First Responders with high-performing low-cost broadband access solutions for high-availability broadband access. The MBP 23 and the 23XR Mobile Broadband Platforms, together with GWT’s Mobile Radio Node (MRN), enable First Responders to bring their broadband networks with them. Through MBP, GWT delivers on-demand broadband access with easy-to-use hardware that just works, right out of the box.

In addition to the Mobile Broadband Platform, GWT supplies a broad range of cellular products to both commercial and public safety customers including 4G mobile base stations with wireless backhaul, core networking equipment, test & measurement products, and signals intercept and analysis systems.
